B2L Legacy workshops provide unique and immersive community-based experiences – such as dialogue facilitation, networking, and skills building – to connect and empower young adults and adults in communities, to strengthen communities.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN B2L LEGACY INITIATIVES?
B2L Legacy Initiatives are designed to impact the greater community. Participants vary depending on the goal of the individual program. Events like Melanin & Medicine and the P.O.W.E.R. conference are geared toward middle and high school students and families, while the Community Council is open to community members and the P.O.W.E.R. Council is comprised of healthcare organizations and healthcare professionals.

PRIMARY GOAL
B2L Legacy's primary goal is to empower underserved communities with education, connection, and opportunities. B2L Legacy initiatives focus on the systems of healthcare, criminal justice, and education, through which our communities can find the tools to advocate for meaningful change.
Legacy Initiatives
Build 2 Lead Legacy is a platform for social change. We utilize partnerships with healthcare organizations, school systems, governments, professionals and more to create opportunities for students, families, and communities while advocating for positive equitable change. Our initiatives focus on healthcare equity, criminal justice reform, community advocacy and fostering career and educational opportunities for students.

MELANIN & MEDICINE: FOSTERING REPRESENTATION IN HEALTHCARE
Build 2 Lead, in partnership with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, Morehouse School of Medicine, and educational partners, has hosted three Melanin and Medicine events to connect students with Black and Brown healthcare professionals and explore healthcare careers. The events have featured breakout sessions on mental health, career navigation, and battling discrimination, while fostering connections between students, families, and clinicians.
